Nichols Belts Bunch of Base Hits
Tuesday, March 9th, 2032
Augusta first baseman Justin Nichols had a big day at Camel Tow Park today against the Framingham Fighting Camels. The 19-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-6 and led the Rail Riders to a 20-5 triumph over Framingham.
"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Nichols said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."
Justin Nichols singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, walked in a run in the 5th, struck out in the 7th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off Vinny Caballero in the 9th.
Nichols is hitting .289 this year with 8 home runs, 28 RBIs and 23 runs scored. He has 48 hits in 166 at-bats, 16 walks and a .362 on-base percentage. Nichols has played in 47 games.
