Drug Use Costs Canepa 80-Game Suspension
Monday, May 15th, 2034
The sordid side of baseball has come to light again in the sports pages. Nick Canepa of the Derby Panthers failed a drug test and has been suspended by the league for 80.

"I made a terrible and foolish mistake that I will regret for the rest of my life," Canepa said in an interview with BNN. "I take full responsibility for my actions and did not appeal my suspension. I apologize to the fans, the game, my family and all those people that I let down. I am truly sorry and deeply regret my terrible lapse in judgment."

Canepa's agent spoke with the press and told them, "Nick has the right to appeal the test results. He is not contesting the findings and he's going to serve the 80-game suspension. He has no statement other than that."

"It's disappointing, it really is," the Panthers owner said. "Our players know the rules. They know they are going to be tested. If any of them get caught, shame on them. I am disappointed."

To date this year, he has registered no saves, 3 wins and 3 losses with a 7.57 ERA. Canepa has made no relief appearances, worked a total of 54.2 innings and surrendered 82 hits. He has fanned 58, issued 28 free passes and held opposing clubs to a .339 batting average.
