Tigers End Armendariz's Streak Sunday, May 14th, 2034 The Santa Clara Vampires lost to the Tenafly Tigers 8-3 today at River Otters Ballpark, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Carlos Armendariz's 20-game hitting streak. The first baseman went 0-for-4 on the day. "We felt if we could slow down Armendariz, we would win the game," Tigers manager Jim Branch explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down." Presently Armendariz is hitting .389 with 5 home runs and 32 RBIs. He has played in 54 games and scored 30 times. |
