Titans Snap Mercado's Streak at 22 Saturday, April 8th, 2034 The hitting streak that Grand Island shortstop Jose Mercado had kept going for 22 games was ended today by the Carl Albert Titans. Mercado was stymied over 4 at-bats today, but the rest of his team picked him up, taking the 8-1 victory at Ballpark of Morelia HS. "Hitting streaks come and go," Mercado said. "It did put a little pressure on me. It's hard to be natural at the plate with something like that always in the back of your mind. If it had to end, I'm glad it was in a win." Mercado is currently batting .360 with 4 home runs, 30 RBIs and 26 runs scored. He has 45 hits in 125 at-bats. |
