5 Hits for Cardinals Rivera
Thursday, March 30th, 2034
Kearny High Cardinals left fielder Franklin Rivera had a day to remember at Batfish Ballpark today, ripping apart the Pitman High Panthers and sparking the Cardinals to a 18-8 victory.
Rivera wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-5.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Rivera told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Franklin Rivera doubled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Sean Jackson in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 5th, hit a three-run double in the 7th and walked in the 8th.
So far this season Rivera has 5 home runs and a .378 batting average.
