McCarthy's 28-Game Hitting Streak Ends Thursday, March 23rd, 2034 Kevin McCarthy saw his 28-game hitting streak wither and die today during the Grand Island Islanders win over Derby at Managua HS Grounds. The 17-year-old center fielder was held hitless in 2 at-bats by the Derby Panthers, but his teammates produced enough offense to take the game, 12-6. "Am I disappointed about the hit streak? Maybe, just a little bit," a seemingly upbeat McCarthy told reporters in the clubhouse. "But really, how could you be unhappy after you hit in 28 straight games? I'm just glad it lasted as long as it did. Life is good." This season McCarthy is batting .437 with 4 home runs. He has scored 18 runs and driven in 26. |
