Big Day for Mercado: Swats 5 Hits Monday, March 20th, 2034 Jose Mercado exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Stealth Ballpark. The Grand Island shortstop had a field day in the 24-13 triumph over the Pleasantville Panthers, finishing 5-for-7. "My hitting philosophy is simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch." Mercado must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too, leading to one of his best days ever with the bat. Jose Mercado doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, flied out in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
