Great Day for Wakeley -- 5 Hits
Friday, March 11th, 2033
The Lerna Lions stopped the Billings West Golden Bears by a score of 18-0 at Ballpark of Ecatepec HS today, with the lion's share of the credit going to first baseman Nate Wakeley. The 17-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.
"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Wakeley said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."
Wakeley did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Golden Bears.
"Not much that I can say," offered Billings West manager Brian Neyman. "He just hammered the heck out of us."
Nate Wakeley doubled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, walked in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 7th.
To date this year Wakeley is batting .652 with 2 home runs.
