Armbruster Finally Fails, Streak Ends at 24
Sunday, May 16th, 2032
Central Tech second baseman Paul Armbruster came into today's game against the Jefferson Indians on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.
The Indians did their jobs well, beating the Central Tech Blues 11-1 and holding Armbruster hitless to snap his 24-game hitting streak. The 18-year-old second baseman had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-2, telling reporters only that he "came up short."
"What Paul did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Blues manager Yassin Flament. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 24 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
In his season totals Armbruster has 12 home runs and a .382 batting average.
