Today was Ben Brandstetter's turn in the rotation for the Santa Clara Vampires and he made the most of it, shutting out the Montreal Cardinals on 1 hit.

The 17-year-old left-hander led the Vampires to an easy 6-0 victory, allowing no walks and tallying 9 strikeouts.

"I hope we miss him next time," Montreal manager Hector Corretjer said. "Brandstetter certainly pitched a strong game against us today. He was in a groove, throwing everything for strikes. Throwing hard. Changing speeds."

On the season Brandstetter has compiled a 4-2 mark with a 4.97 ERA in 6 starts. In pitching 38 innings he has 44 strikeouts and 12 walks while limiting the opposition to a .292 batting average.
