Big Day with Bat: Zacharias 5-for-5 Monday, March 22nd, 2032 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Erik Zacharias today -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Loggers Ballpark and paced the Jaguars to a 9-4 win over the Kearny High Cardinals. After his dynamite batting performance, the Jacksonville State right fielder told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book. Erik Zacharias singled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Steve Thompson in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 9th and walked in the 10th. This year Zacharias is hitting .500 with 4 home runs and 23 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .571 clip and scored 12 runs. View Boxscore View Game Log |
