Ogura Cracks 3 HRs for Hanshin
Thursday, July 6th, 2034
Hanshin Tigers right fielder Kiyonori Ogura slugged three home runs against the Tokyo Yakult Swallows at Rebels Ballpark, but couldn't win the game all by himself. The Swallows spoiled his day by defeating the Tigers, 13-11.
"The loss puts a damper on the outstanding game Kiyonori had, but people will be buzzing about this for days to come," Hanshin manager Bob Edwards. "That's gotta be some consolation to him. But knowing Kiyonori, he would have preferred a win."
For the game, Ogura was 4-for-4 with 3 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
"The first two I got all of them and it was no doubt they were gone," Ogura said later. "It seemed like the wind helped it a little on that last one. I just wish Mother Nature had helped us win the game, too."
Kiyonori Ogura hit a solo-shot off Mike Boyer in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Pir Syeda in the 4th, walked in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Tsutomu Holliday in the 8th.
A look at his current stats shows Ogura with a .302 average, 12 home runs, 32 RBIs and 29 runs scored. He has played in 39 games.
