Rowdy Players Suspended by League Thursday, July 6th, 2034 Yesterday at Ballpark of Nasu College Eien Hara and Mike Mitchell got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Chiba Lotte Marines and Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified both ballclubs that Hara and Mitchell would be given 5-game suspensions for fighting. A look at his current stats shows Hara with a .235 average, 2 home runs, 11 RBIs and 13 runs scored. He has played in 33 games. Running the numbers on Mitchell for the year, he has made no relief appearances, recorded no saves and compiled a 3-2 won-lost mark with a 6.50 ERA. In pitching 36 innings, he has totaled 28 strikeouts and 22 walks. |
