Week's Top Performer Honored by PL Monday, June 26th, 2034 No single hit brought Takahiro Kato Player of the Week honors -- the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters right fielder corralled the award with a consistent approach in every at-bat. "Hitting is all about discipline," said Kato. "When you lose focus, start to lunge at the ball and swing too aggressively... swinging at a lot of bad pitches... that's when your average starts to drop and you wind up fighting for playing time. You're most successful when you concentrate on the ball and make 'em throw strikes." Concentrate he did. Kato stroked 12 hits in 20 at-bats while cranking out 4 home runs, 10 RBIs and 5 runs scored. Posting a .361 batting average to date, Kato has 13 home runs and 39 RBIs. |
