Nagao Extends Hit Streak to 25 Games

Yomiuri lost to the Chunichi Dragons 6-2 at Ballpark of Yamagata College today, but Hiromi Nagao kept his consecutive-game hitting streak alive with 1 hit. The Giants left fielder has now delivered hits in 25 straight games.
"Hiromi has a nice streak going, but the scoreboard tells the important story today," Yomiuri manager Masato Ojima told reporters after the game. "We lost, no matter how many hits anyone had." Hiromi Nagao grounded out in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, flied out in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
Looking at his season stats, Nagao has compiled a .415 batting average and a .500 on-base percentage, while hitting 4 home runs and driving in 12 runs.
