No Easy Feat: Pitcher Wins PL Most Valuable Player Award
Thursday, April 13th, 2034
Not only has Pete Willoughby been named winner of the 2033 Pacific League Most Valuable Player Award, he's done it at an age when many of his peers are still trying to establish themselves in NIPPON BASEBALL LEAGUE.
"I feel fortunate to win this award at age 20," he said. "I feel like I still have my best years ahead of me. Hopefully I can put my name on this trophy a few more times."
The Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters ace had a 1-1 record over 6 starts and 27.1 innings. He struck out 36, issued 7 walks and had an impressive 0.99 ERA.
Batters hit only .177 against him during the season.
Yoon-tae Pack of the Chiba Lotte Marines finished second in voting, while Justin Utting of the Saitama Seibu Lions finished third.
