Hot Bat Cooled, Adkinson Hitless Against Tigers
Friday, April 30th, 2032
Chunichi right fielder Dustin Adkinson came into today's game against the Hanshin Tigers on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.
The Tigers did their jobs well, beating the Chunichi Dragons 17-4 and holding Adkinson hitless to snap his 25-game hitting streak. The 19-year-old right fielder had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-4, telling reporters only that he "came up short."
"What Dustin did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Dragons manager Nick Murphy. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 25 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
Adkinson currently has a .385 batting average with 45 hits, 11 homers, 31 RBIs, 32 runs scored and a .456 OBP.
