Mayfield Caps Memorable Season with SBL Most Valuable Player Award Honor

A pitcher being voted the most valuable player in his league is a rare feat, and this year it did indeed happen. The 2034 Skip Bertman League Most Valuable Player Award has gone to Kansas Jayhawks ace Chris Mayfield after a stellar 5-1 season.
In 0 starts he piled up 30 innings, 46 strikeouts, 17 walks and a 0.60 ERA. Mayfield held opposing hitters to a .137 batting average and compiled a 1.0 WAR along the way.
Ray Toye of the Indiana State Sycamores finished second in voting, while Sam Lewis of the Virginia Cavaliers finished third.
