Kansas Reliever Snags Cy Young Award
Monday, May 29th, 2034
When Kansas reliever Chris Mayfield strolled in from the bullpen in 2034, it did not bode well for opposing teams. He usually put a quick end to any budding rallies. For his excellent mound work he was presented the Skip Bertman League Cy Young Award today.
The Jayhawks ace appeared in 24 games and saved 14 of them. He had a record of 5-1 with a 0.60 ERA. Mayfield had 46 strikeouts in 30 innings and limited opposing hitters to a .137 batting average.
Ray Toye of the Indiana State Sycamores finished second in voting, while Nick Burdette of the Alabama Crimson Tide finished third.
