Super Week for Washington State's Vera!

20-year-old Jonathan Vera made a few Washington State headlines during this past week as the rookie second baseman proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Rod Dedeaux League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort.
He cracked 16 hits in 32 at-bats to put up a .500 average. Vera collected 4 home runs, 13 RBIs and scored 11 runs.
This year Vera is hitting at a .362 pace with 6 home runs and 20 RBIs. He has played in 20 games and scored 20 times.
