Fletcher Caps Memorable Season with SBL Most Valuable Player Award Honor
Wednesday, June 1st, 2033
He's only 20 years old, but Erik Fletcher of the Indiana State Sycamores has clearly established himself as a star of USA NCAA DIVISION I.
His status grew today as the ace pitcher was named the winner of the 2033 Skip Bertman League Most Valuable Player Award.
"I just want to pitch well and win games," he said. "The awards are nice though."
Fletcher's award-winning season saw him put up a 4-1 record through 10 starts, throwing 56 innings. He had 60 strikeouts with 13 walks and a 1.45 ERA. Opponents hit only .177 against him during the season.
Nick Swanson of the Iowa State Cyclones finished second in voting, while Chris Maynard of the South Illinois Salukis finished third.
