Hit Streak Over, Golden Bears Stop John Saturday, March 26th, 2033 It just wasn't Steve John's day. The USC Trojans took the 10-9 win today over the California Golden Bears, but the Golden Bears mound staff did what nobody else could -- they stopped the 23-game hitting streak of Trojans third baseman Steve John. "We might have focused a bit too much on stopping John," California manager Kenny James commented afterward. "He had a nice hitting streak going, but the Trojans have other hitters and they did their job today."
