Josh Shearer Hurt, Out for Year
Monday, May 3rd, 2032
Stanford starting pitcher Josh Shearer could miss the remainder of the season because of a ruptured ulnar collateral ligament. He exited yesterday's Baylor game after injuring himself while throwing a pitch. The original diagnosis said Shearer would be out 12 months. Later on his doctors said he could be out even longer. "He's done," his manager commented at the BNN press conference. "It's a season-ending injury, but it could have been worse. It's not the worst-case scenario, so we're happy about that."
So far this year Shearer has made 5 starts, tossed 22 innings, struck out 25 batters and walked 9. His record is 1-1 with a 5.32 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .279 batting average.
