Muller Clips Hurricanes for Cycle
Thursday, April 29th, 2032
Walt Muller was jubilant as the Florida State Seminoles left the field with a 14-2 win over the Miami Hurricanes today. He had every right to be.
The 19-year-old right fielder hit for the cycle at Gremlins Ballpark, had a 5-for-5 game and chalked up 8 RBI and 3 runs to boot.
"It's too bad I can't do that every day," Muller said with a smile to reporters after the game. "It would do wonders for my batting average."
Florida State manager Gene Barraclough said he was "proud" of his right fielder's feat, but was not expecting it to happen.
"Cycles are tough because triples are tough," he said. "As soon as the ball left the bat on that triple, guys were jumping off the bench for him. Honestly, I wasn't sure he was going to be able to leg it out."
Walt Muller hit a two-run home run off Gabe George in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, hit a three-run double in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and hit a three-run triple in the 9th.
In 28 games this season Muller is batting .390 with 41 hits and 6 home runs. He has scored 23 runs and driven in 25.
