Clark Rips 3 HR
Saturday, April 24th, 2032
Houston Cougars right fielder Andrew Clark almost did it all today. He sent three shots out of the ballpark, scored 3 times and drove in 4 runs and had 4 hits in 5 at-bats.
The one thing he could not do, however, was lead the Cougars to victory. The Arizona State Sun Devils escaped with the 14-6 win by the Arizona State despite being on the receiving end of the barrage from Clark.
"I'd be lying if I said I didn't like hitting three homers, but losing takes a little glitter off the game," he admitted to BNN writers after the game.
Andrew Clark singled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Bill Rankin in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Tim Startup in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Abel Murphy in the 9th.
"When someone hits three home runs, you put yourself in a tough position to win," said Houston manager Cisco Sánchez. "We were lucky to win this one. I don't think it matters how hard you throw, especially in the Rod Dedeaux League. If you leave a ball out over the plate to good USA NCAA DIVISION I hitters, if they get a bead on you and you leave it over the middle, they're probably going to take a good hack at it."
This season Clark is hitting .279 with 7 home runs.
