Alvarez Sparkles in Shutout
Wednesday, September 6th, 2034
West Virginia's Edgar Alvarez brought his best stuff to Penlee Park today, shutting down and shutting out the San Angelo Mustangs 2-0. He racked up 7 strikeouts, surrendered 3 hits and issued 2 walks on his way to the victory.
"We barely made him work at all," San Angelo manager Clyde Bowman said later. "West Virginia could probably pitch him again tomorrow if they wanted."
Thus far this season, Alvarez has tossed 68.1 innings in 11 starts, fanned 72 batters, walked 37 and put up a 3.95 ERA with 4 wins and 6 losses.
