Bad Behavior Costs Villanueva and Gale
Thursday, August 31st, 2034
After an intense confrontation, both the Lake Monsters Juan Villanueva and the River Chiefs Stu Gale were handed their punishments today. The league commissioner's office issued suspensions for an on-the-field conflict that occurred at a recent Okanagan-Chippewa game. Both players will miss 5 games as a result of their actions.
"Sometimes we go too far and have to pay the consequences," Juan Villanueva commented later. "Hopefully cooler heads will prevail the next time we play."
So far this year in 98 games Villanueva is hitting .228 with 1 home run, 29 RBIs and 42 runs scored.
Gale has taken the mound for 42 relief appearances this season, nailing down 2 saves while notching a 6-1 record with a 2.75 ERA. The Chippewa reliever has limited opposing batters to a .232 batting average.
