Oosterman Shows Off, Hits for Cycle
Thursday, June 22nd, 2034
Shalom Oosterman was jubilant as the Tree City Black Squirrels left the field with a 11-2 win over the Taos Blizzard today. He had every right to be.
The 23-year-old right fielder hit for the cycle at The Nut House, had a 4-for-5 game and chalked up 4 RBI and 2 runs to boot.
"It's too bad I can't do that every day," Oosterman said with a smile to reporters after the game. "It would do wonders for my batting average."
Tree City manager Ramón Guerrero said he was "proud" of his right fielder's feat, but was not expecting it to happen.
"Cycles are tough because triples are tough," he said. "As soon as the ball left the bat on that triple, guys were jumping off the bench for him. Honestly, I wasn't sure he was going to be able to leg it out."
Shalom Oosterman struck out in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Hitoshi Miyahira in the 2nd, tripled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th and singled in the 6th.
In 25 games this season Oosterman has batted at a .244 pace with 22 hits and 1 home run.
