In a dominant outing, José López of the Chippewa River Chiefs totally silenced the bats of the Charleston Panthers, finishing with a no-hitter.

In the River Chiefs' 1-0 victory, López faced only 27 batters, surrendered no hits, had 13 strikeouts and 1 walk.

"Honestly, I didn't even know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning," Chippewa manager Eric Rice said. "I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had gotten, and I happened to notice that they hadn't gotten any."

Commenting on the defeat, losing manager Román Cruz told reporters in the clubhouse that he had a "pretty simple" analysis of the game.

"The River Chiefs had all the hits and all the runs, so they won," he snapped. "But yeah, López pitched a heck of a ballgame."

Looking at his season stats, López has won 4 and lost 1, collecting 83 strikeouts and 17 walks in 58.2 innings with a 2.61 ERA.
