Chavez Brilliant, Fans 15 Friday, August 12th, 2033 Everything was working for Lorenzo Chavez today at The Reservation. He had the perfect delivery. The ball was moving. The change up was working. In an unforgettable performance, the 21-year-old Chavez fanned 15 Gnats and sparked the Chippewa River Chiefs to a 11-5 victory over Nichols. He left Gnats hitters mumbling and muttering at the plate. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it. "I don't know if there are many times that I've seen him throw better," said Chippewa manager Eric Rice. "His location and command were really something." In addition to collecting 15 strikeouts over 7 innings, Chavez allowed 5 hits and no walks in a superlative outing. "I thought I'd make it easy on the guys today," Chavez said with a smile.
