Omar Mendez Hurt, Will Miss Rest of Year Saturday, August 6th, 2033 The doctors have spoken and Omar Mendez of the San Angelo Mustangs didn't like what he heard. The 21-year-old reliever is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Mendez sustained his season-ending injury during the Kingwood Knights game yesterday at Stable Park. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the San Angelo medical staff reported Mendez had a torn rotator cuff and would be absent from the lineup for at least 11-12 months. This season Mendez is 4-and-6 with no saves and a 3.03 ERA. He has given up 70 hits in 92 innings with 94 strikeouts. |
