Akiyama Records Shutout Against Panthers Tuesday, July 5th, 2033 Ryuichi Akiyama shut out the Charleston Panthers 3-0 on a 5-hit masterpiece for the Bethesda Hornets at Franklin Mountains Field today. "He was kind of teasing them with his off-speed stuff, and his fastball was moving everywhere," Bethesda skipper Francisco Solano said afterward. Akiyama registered 13 strikeouts and issued 3 walks in pitching a gem. "We just didn't swing the bats very well. Or else he just pitched good, whichever way you want to look at it," said Charleston manager Román Cruz after the defeat. This year Akiyama has a 2-0 mark in 1 starts with a 1.67 ERA.
