Pope Goes 5-for-5
Tuesday, June 28th, 2033
Some moments become linked with a particular player's career forever. Mike Pope of the St. Paul Saints had one of those moments when he went 5-for-5 at the plate today in the 9-5 win over the Winfield Warriors at The Barn.
"I won't forget this anytime soon, and I don't expect it to happen too often," the 21-year-old second baseman told reporters in the postgame interview. "I'll be happy to just get a hit or two every day. Enough to hang around the league a while longer. Like 10, maybe 15 more years."
Mike Pope hit a solo-shot off Johnny Gonzalez in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th and doubled in the 8th.
This season Pope is batting .364 with 3 home runs. He has scored 27 runs and driven in 23.
