Emeralds End Fernandez's Streak Tuesday, June 7th, 2033 The Westside Road Warriors lost to the Eugene Emeralds 5-1 today at Prefontaine Park, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Omar Fernandez's 20-game hitting streak. The left fielder went 0-for-4 on the day. "We felt if we could slow down Fernandez, we would win the game," Emeralds manager Ricardo Martínez explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down." Fernandez is hitting .309 so far this season with 20 RBIs and 14 runs scored. He has 43 hits including 7 home runs, 19 walks and .400 OBP. |
