Fernandez Gone for Season in Kingwood
Saturday, May 21st, 2033
The doctors have spoken and Matt Fernandez of the Kingwood Knights didn't like what he heard. The 21-year-old reliever is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Fernandez sustained his season-ending injury during the Charleston Panthers game yesterday at Franklin Mountains Field. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Kingwood medical staff reported Fernandez had radial nerve compression and would be absent from the lineup for at least 9 months.
Fernandez has taken the hill for 18 relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 2-2 record with a 4.95 ERA. The Kingwood reliever has limited opposing batters to a .263 batting average.
