Thompson Mystifies Chippewa Saturday, April 30th, 2033 The Chippewa River Chiefs were almost helpless today in their 8-0 loss to the Victoria Vikings and hurler Jack Thompson. Thompson kept the River Chiefs confused all game, spinning a 7-hit shutout. "Tip your hat to Thompson," Chippewa manager Eric Rice said in his postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night." The 23-year-old right-hander had no walks and 10 strikeouts in a strong performance. "It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Thompson said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way." This year Thompson has made no relief appearances with no saves.
