Thompson Mystifies Chippewa
Saturday, April 30th, 2033
The Chippewa River Chiefs were almost helpless today in their 8-0 loss to the Victoria Vikings and hurler Jack Thompson. Thompson kept the River Chiefs confused all game, spinning a 7-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Thompson," Chippewa manager Eric Rice said in his postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 23-year-old right-hander had no walks and 10 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Thompson said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
This year Thompson has made no relief appearances with no saves. In 33.1 innings, he has permitted 32 hits, fanned 39 hitters and recorded 1 win and 2 losses with a 3.24 ERA.
