Nauert Smashes 3 Homers for Buzzard's Bay
Thursday, October 5th, 2034
It's a rare event when a player hits three homers in a game and rarer still when he does it and loses.

It happened at Bloomfield Road today, as Mitsunori Nauert of the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats unloaded three times against the Ruidoso Osos but was still bumped off 12-10 by the Osos.

"We were lucky to win today," said Ruidoso skipper John Perry. "You can't give up that many home runs and expect to win on a regular basis."

For the game, the Buzzard's Bay third baseman had 3 hits in 3 at-bats, scored 3 times, and drove in 8.

Nauert spoke to the writers in the postgame press room with mixed feelings, saying he was sad to lose but happy to be seeing the ball well.

"I was just trying to swing early and often to give myself a chance," he said. "I let the pitcher supply all the power and try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball."

Mitsunori Nauert flied out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Harold Wilford in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Harold Wilford in the 5th, walked in the 7th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Allen Blair in the 9th.

To date, Nauert has collected 112 hits for a .263 average. He has posted 27 home runs, scored 67 runs and driven in 92 runs.
