Hickey Blisters Sandy Springs
Sunday, September 17th, 2034
A jubilant Travis Hickey joined the postgame press conference at The Coliseum today to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Sandy Springs Spartans pitching staff he had just vanquished.
"It may not have looked like it," said the Youngstown Tune-Ups second baseman, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."
That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-5 hitting performance, which led the Tune-Ups to a 19-5 win.
"He made it look easy," said José Parra, manager of the Spartans. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."
Travis Hickey singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and walked in the 9th.
This season Hickey has hit 11 home runs and posted a .283 batting average.
