Godambe Shows Off, Hits for Cycle
Thursday, June 22nd, 2034
Balik Godambe was jubilant as the Pacifica Shamrocks left the field with a 19-4 win over the Jacksonville Hellcats today. He had every right to be.
The 25-year-old catcher hit for the cycle at Hellcats Park, had a 4-for-5 game and chalked up 4 runs batted in and 3 runs to boot.
"It's too bad I can't do that every day," Godambe said with a smile to reporters after the game. "It would do wonders for my batting average."
Pacifica manager Joe Leftwich said he was "proud" of his catcher's feat, but was not expecting it to happen.
"Cycles are tough because triples are tough," he said. "As soon as the ball left the bat on that triple, guys were jumping off the bench for him. Honestly, I wasn't sure he was going to be able to leg it out."
Balik Godambe hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit a two-run triple in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Len Adkins in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 7th and walked in the 9th.
In 27 games this season Godambe has batted at a .394 pace with 26 hits and 2 home runs.
