Pope Ups Hit Streak to 20 Consecutive Games
Thursday, October 13th, 2033
Win or lose, Mike Pope just keeps on getting base hits -- game after game after game. He picked up 3 more today and has now stretched his hitting streak to 20 games.
The Spokane Bulldogs second baseman went 3-for-5 today, but it wasn't enough to win the game. His club was defeated 11-10 by the DeKalb Cornhuskers at The Corn Crib.
"It's amazing to watch him hit right now, but I don't think anybody's really mentioning it," one of his teammates said. "We just don't want to jinx him." Mike Pope flied out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 5th and grounded out in the 8th.
To date this season Pope is hitting .337 with 5 home runs.
