Kono Raps Topeka for 5 Hits Sunday, September 4th, 2033 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Umito Kono, it came around today. The 21-year-old right fielder scattered hits all over The Field at Richmond to pace the Boise Hawks to a 13-6 victory over the Topeka Predators. Topeka skipper Dan Jones told reporters in the press room that "Kono deserves a hat-tip." "He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Kono hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit." Umito Kono singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, walked in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
