Super Swinger -- Owen Slams 5 Hits Tuesday, August 23rd, 2033 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Kent Owen, it came around today. The 24-year-old catcher scattered hits all over The Kennel to pace the Long Island Ducks to a 8-7 victory over the Spokane Bulldogs. Spokane skipper Chris Carpenter told reporters in the press room that "Owen deserves a hat-tip." "He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Owen hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit." Kent Owen doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and doubled in the 9th. Owen is hitting at a .349 mark this season.
