22-year-old Shoji Hosokawa made a few Sandy Springs headlines during this past week as the rookie catcher proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Bob Moose League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort.

He cracked 11 hits in 23 at-bats to put up a .478 average. Hosokawa collected 1 home run, 5 RBIs and scored 8 runs.

This season Hosokawa is batting .274 with 111 hits, 23 home runs, 76 RBIs, 58 walks, .368 OBP and has scored 66 runs. He has played in 100 games.
