Vega Sharp, Whitewashes Spartans Sunday, August 7th, 2033 The Sandy Springs Spartans struggled at the plate today against Beehive hurler Gilberto Vega, who shackled them on 5 hits while hurling a complete game 1-0 shutout. "What can you say? We didn't hit well," said Spartans skipper José Parra in his postgame comments. "Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow." Vega finished the game with 7 strikeouts and 2 walks in an excellent mound performance. "He pitched real well," Madison manager Quinn Patrick said. "Gilberto made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively." To this point in the season Vega has 3 wins and 11 losses and a 7.31 ERA.
