DKL Top Pitcher in August: Ichihara Friday, September 1st, 2034 Any time a rookie makes a splash on the scene, it's got to be great for his career potential. Just ask Yoshikazu Ichihara, who put together a stellar month out of the pen. The Detroit Death Stars closer, 27, kept the opposition off balance all month as he held them to a .174 average and walked away with the Darryl Kile League Pitcher of the Month award for August. Ichihara posted a 2-0 mark and a 1.32 ERA in 13 relief appearances. In 13.2 innings, he had 6 saves, 14 strikeouts, and 4 walks. Currently Ichihara has 6 saves. In 22 relief appearances he has hurled 20.2 innings, struck out 20 and issued 8 walks with a 3-0 record.
