Great Day for Kono -- 5 Hits Wednesday, August 9th, 2034 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-6 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Susumu Kono, it came around today. The 24-year-old third baseman scattered hits all over Phantoms Field to pace the Fairfield Flash to a 18-4 victory over the Coronado Phantoms. Coronado skipper Jeffrey Graham told reporters in the press room that "Kono deserves a hat-tip." "He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Kono hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit." Susumu Kono walked in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
