Saturday, July 1st, 2034
Any time a rookie makes a splash on the scene, it's got to be great for his career potential. Just ask John Otten, who put together a stellar month out of the pen. The Billings Mustangs closer, 27, kept the opposition off balance all month as he held them to a .190 average and walked away with the Darryl Kile League Pitcher of the Month award for June.
Otten posted a 2-1 mark and a 3.09 ERA in 13 relief appearances. In 11.2 innings, he had 10 saves, 17 strikeouts, and 4 walks.
To date this season, Otten has fashioned a 4.00 ERA and rung up 19 saves for his club. He has 51 strikeouts and 24 walks. Opponents have hit for a combined .220 average against him and Otten has a 6-3 won-lost mark.
