Phantoms Vela Gone for Year Tuesday, June 20th, 2034 The season is finished for Gerardo Vela of the Coronado Phantoms. The club announced today that he will forego the rest of the year because of injury. The Phantoms starting pitcher suffered a torn flexor tendon in his elbow while throwing a pitch in a recent game against the Espanola Bomberos. Team doctors said it would take at least 7 months to heal. This season-to-date, Vela has fashioned a 1-2 mark and 6.59 ERA in 27.1 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .352 against him and he has logged 9 strikeouts. |
