Downing Week's Top Player Monday, May 22nd, 2034 26-year-old Curtis Downing made a few Bronx headlines during this past week as the rookie center fielder proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Darryl Kile League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 9 hits in 13 at-bats to put up a .692 average. Downing collected 1 home run, 6 RBIs and scored 6 runs. Thus far this season in 34 games Downing is batting .387 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs and 19 runs scored. He has 46 hits in 119 at-bats. |
