The action was hot and heavy at a recent Calgary-Antioch game at Foothills Stadium in more ways than one. When tempers flared, both benches emptied and a mild melee ensued. The only thing hurt was a few players' pride. Two of the main figures in the brawl were suspended today by league officials. The Kodiaks Yoshiro Allen and Antioch's Ramón Torres will each miss 3 games for their roles in the fight.

"We do not condone this kind of behavior on the field," the league announcement read. "As such, we believe that this punishment fits the actions taken by these two players. We hope that there will not be a repeat of the incident or else the consequences will be even more severe."

This season Allen is swinging the bat at a .291 pace. He has hit 8 home runs and scored 26 times, while driving in 21. His on-base percentage is .366 and he has played in 30 games.

Torres's record this season is 1-and-0 with no saves and a 2.77 ERA. He has given up 27 hits in 26 innings with 29 strikeouts.
